Friday morning, a slightly nervous Plaace team huddled up in the office with matching t-shirts and an unopened bottle of bubbles that were either about to be popped or put on hold. The occasion was that the winners of the Nordic Proptech Awards were finally to be announced.

Nordic Proptech Awards is a newly established competition fabricated by all the Nordic proptech organizations (Finland, Denmark, Sweden, and Norway). A total of 65 companies were nominated/registered and based on these, five winners were to be chosen under the categories Real Estate & Tech, Sustainable & Healthy Buildings, Space-as-a-service, and Property Management. After a process consisting of different activities, for example pitching, it is ultimately a jury composed of industry experts from all over the Nordic region who choose the winners.
The award ceremony was scheduled to take place physically in Copenhagen, though (shockingly) ended up being streamed online. Luckily we did not have to wait long to pop our Proptech Awards bottle because … we WON! It was under the category Property Management that our name appeared, something we barely dared to hope for as there were tough competitors such as Unloc, Parakey, and Autility in our group.

After the award ceremony, it was a happy group of people in the office (to say at least) who could finally pop the bottle we had nervously rested our eyes on for the last couple of weeks. With that said, there was something very bittersweet about the victory – we could not celebrate it with the whole team. Several of our developers are based in Ukraine, which certainly has affected the spirit and atmosphere. Our CEO Snorre said a few well-chosen words in his thank-you speech to show support for our developers and everyone else affected by this surreal crisis. You can see the speech on our LinkedIn post here, and read more about the award and the rest of the winners here.
